Unschooling
DO you know the difference between homeschooling and unschooling? Most people believe it has to do purely with you choice of using or not using curriculum. Unschooling is a far greater scope than that. Unschooling is a philosophy of life. The choice to use or not use curriculum is left up to the child, not the adult.
Let’s say that my child is interested in voting. An unschooler might search voter rights on the internet, ask Mom or Dad if they vote and why, and they may even go so far as to hold a mock election for something or participate in the local voting with their parents.
A child who is strictly homeschooled child might only read about voting in their social studies curriculum. They may even go so far as to have a mock vote as well.
Unschooling and homeschooling may look very different from the inside, but the results could look very similar. Keep an open mind to your children and your families needs. Unschooling might be a viable option for at least some of your educational needs.
